Windows registry editor or regedit is one of the secret functions of the system and allows us to access many other features. But it is as I said, it is very important that you follow the instructions carefully when you are preparing to tweak some of this important tool for Windows.

The Windows Registry Editor is a tool that allows you to view, modify, and manage the Windows registry, which is a central database that contains settings and configuration information for the Windows operating system and installed applications.

Method :1

From the search for Windows 10

To open the Windows Registry Editor, you can follow these steps:

1. Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box.
2. Type “regedit” in the Run box and press Enter or click OK. This will open the Registry Editor.

Once the Registry Editor is open, you will see a window with a tree-like structure that displays the different registry keys and values. You can navigate through the registry by expanding the different folders, or keys, and clicking on the values to view or modify them.

It is important to note that making changes to the registry can have significant impacts on your system and should be done with caution. Before making any changes, it is recommended that you create a backup of the registry or a specific key that you plan to modify. This can be done by right-clicking on the key and selecting Export, and then saving the backup file to a safe location.

Keyboard shortcut Windows + R

Using keyboard shortcuts Windows + X or by right-clicking on the start icon and selecting execute, we can launch this window. In this window, if we type regedit and run, launch the registry editor of Windows 10.

The left pane displays a hierarchical view of the different registry keys and subkeys, similar to the way folders are organized in Windows Explorer. You can expand or collapse each key by clicking on the plus (+) or minus (-) sign next to it.

The right pane displays the values associated with the selected key or subkey. These values can include settings for the operating system or installed applications, and can be edited by double-clicking on them.

Method :3

From the command prompt

The command prompt is a legacy MSDOS terminal, with which we can move through directories, launch applications and commands of all kinds. We can access the ” Command Prompt ” by right-clicking on the icon and selecting the Start command prompt. Another way to run accessing the window mentioned in the previous step and typing cmd.

Once in the “Command Prompt” It simply enters regedit to launch the Registry Editor of Windows 10.

After applying anyone method from above you will see the following User Account Control “UAC“. This UAC will confirm “Do you want to allow this app to make a change to your device?“. So if you want to open Windows Registry Editor tool you should click on “Yes”
